Judas Priest


JUDAS PRIEST

     It’s a British heavy metal band, formed in 1970 by K. K. Downing, Ian Hill, and John Ellis. They met each other in their early childhood growing up on the Yew Tree estate in West Bromwich. Downing and Hill became close friends in their early teens, when they shared similar musical interests and learned to play instruments. The band was founded in October 1970 in Birmingham, West Midlands, England, after a local ensemble named Judas Priest (from a Bob Dylan's song) disbanded.

  • IAN HILL

     Ian Frank Hill was born in 1951, Jan 20th. He’s the bass player of the band, and the sole constant member following the departure of K.K. Downing. He learned how to play the bass with his father, a former jazz’ bass player.

  • ROB HALFORD

     Robert John Arthur "Rob" Halford was born in 1951, Aug 25th. He’s best known by his incredible voice, ranging ‘till nearly four octaves. He left the band in 1992, going back in 2003. Rob is credited as the first openly gay heavy metal star, having come out in 1998.
  • GLENN TIPTON

     Glenn Raymond Tipton is the guitar player and occasional keyboards player of the band. He was born in 1947, Oct 25th, and when he was five he started to learn to play the piano. He learned to play the guitar with his brother when he was nineteen.
  • SCOTT TRAVIS

     Scott Travis was born in 1961, Sep 6th. He played in a lot of bands since 1980’s, and joined  Judas Priest in 1989, when Dave Holland left  citing personal reasons. Scott also plays at the band Racer X.
  • RICHIE FAULKNER

                       

    Richard Ian Faulkner was born in 1980, Jan 1st. He joined the band in 2011,
    Apr  20th, replacing K. K. Downing.
